Why Play with Push Cars?
Physical + Motor Skills
Mastering the handling of the steering wheel, honk of the horn and opening and closing the doors help develop gross and fine motor skills. Once they upgrade to foot-powered cars, kids learn to push and steer at the same time, while strengthening their leg muscles as they move.
Visual + Memory Skills
When kids spot an obstacle while driving, they’ll flex their visual spatial skills to figure out how (and when) to move the car out of the way. Car ride-ons also build understanding of space and the objects contained within, from their cargo to how their legs fit below the wheel.
Sensory Exploration
Car ride-ons get kids outdoors where they can touch, see, smell and hear new things outside their normal routine. The movement of the car allows kids to feel the wind on their face when they’re pushed fast, or hear the way the wheels sound on different surfaces.
Creativity + Role Play
When little drivers are being pushed or moving with kid-power, their imaginations run wild! Encourage your child to share their thoughts as they grab the steering wheel and pretend they’re driving, and have them explain why they’re honking the horn or flashing the lights.
Play Together!
- Family Road Trip: Pretend your toddlers are in charge of the family road trip destination and getting everyone there! Help them pack for the trip, then ask your child for all of the sights and sounds during the ride and their destination upon arrival.
- As you cruise with your little ones, ask them to share the sights and sounds of the neighborhood. Encourage them to pretend to drive and steer, directing you where to navigate next!
