I already have a corded and cordless reciprocating saw. They work great, but sometimes you just have a situation that calls for a smaller saw. Or maybe you need to hold what you are cutting with one hand and saw with the other. This RIDGID reciprocating saw does the job, and does it well. This package was tool only, but that’s okay as I already had compatible batteries. It did come with one multi-purpose blade. It measures about 14.5 inches without the blade and battery; about 20″ with the blade and a 4Ah battery. It feels good in your hand right off the bat. There is a safety switch above the trigger. A bright LED light comes on as soon as you pull the trigger and stays on for about 15 seconds after you release the trigger. I put it to the test with a bunch of cuts I had to make in 1/4 inch plywood. It performed flawlessly. It was easier to make the cuts and hold the boards, just as I had hoped. I would recommend using the smaller battery if you have one. The 4Ah battery did add a little more weight which is noticeable with each additional cut. Free up some weight if you can. The RIDGID 18V SubCompact Brushless Cordless One-Handed Reciprocating Saw makes a great addition to my tool collection and especially pairs nicely with some of my other RIDGID tools.

I recently received the RIDGID – RIDGID 18V SubCompact Brushless Cordless One-Handed Reciprocating Saw (Tool Only). I’m very happy with the performance of this tool. To remove or replace a blade is very easy. I’m impressed with the power of this small easy to hold reciprocating saw. I cut threw 3″ of a 2×6 with easy. The tool is not very heavy and I was able to handle it well. I would differently recommend this saw.
