After my daily work out in the morning and my commute to the office, drinking this is my first order of business. It’s the right amount of caffeine and the right amount of liquid to get my day started. I’m not a coffee drinker so I can’t compare the pick-me-up to coffee, but I can say that I don’t get jittery after drinking it and at 80 calories a can, I don’t feel like I’m drinking pure sugar.

I am a fan of mountain dew although I am trying to drink less soda. This is the only main soda that amazon delivers at a reasonable price unless you order alot of food/drinks from pantry. I ordered it for this reason. It seems marketed as an energy drink but it doesn’t seem to have more caffeine than a typical mountain dew.
I have tried 3 flavors. orange citrus, midnight grape and pineapple orange. All the drinks have a base flavor of mountain dew with a twist.. of the specific flavor. I thought orange citrus would taste the most like mountain dew as mountain dew has orange juice but it doesn’t and it’s not very good. Midnightgrape is like grape soda plus mountain dew, I found it satisfactory. My favorite so far is pineapple orange, it actually taste like pineapple although of course it doesn’t include pineapple juice.
Interestingly these sodas contain real juice 5-10 percent each and enough so you can taste the juice. The pineapple orange doesn’t include pineapple or orange but it does have white grape juice and coconut. You can actually taste the coconut, it might be more accurate to call this pineapple coconut mountain dew. Although these are not healthy drinks(although they add vitamins) it’s nice touch to add juice at a distinctive enough level you can taste it. Also the good thing about these sodas they have low calories. 80 calories for 16 ounces, this is versus around 300 calories for your typical 20 ounce soda. The reason being it has a low amount of sugar, around 20 grams a drink versus 50-80 for your typical soda. Soda has an incredible amount of sugar in it and this is a nice mix between the less flavorful zero calorie soda with aspartame(causes cancer in mice) and high calorie sugary soda. I wish more soda companies would make a more balanced soda like this. You can drink a few of these a day without worrying about packing on the pounds.
Last is the value, the value is decent. It’s a little over a dollar a soda, this is reasonable although it’s not as good as if you were to just purchase regular mountain dew at the grocery store. I may update this review in the future to include the other flavors.

I love this stuff. The same caffeine as one cup of coffee, but only 80 calories for a 16oz can. It’s my preferred 3PM pick me up at work. Buying in bulk is always my favorite option and they make it easy here.

I love this stuff! For 80 calories, you get something that tastes A LOT like original Mountain Dew. And it doesn’t come with all the gross extra stuff they put in energy drinks. It’s definitely highly caffeinated, but not to the point of being just a bad idea like some of the stuff out there. I don’t get a crash from this.
I think more diet sodas should go this route, using a combination of natural and artificial sweeteners instead of just all sugar or all sucralose. It’s a much better compromise between flavor and nutrition.
