The 18V LXT Brushless Couple Shaft Power Head Kit with String Trimmer and Pole Saw attachments is a welcome solution for a range of trimming and cutting applications. The lever style lock system allows for quick tool-less installation and replacement of attachments. The 10 in. Just picked this up a couple days ago!! Haven’t had this but two days and am totally convinced that MAKITA has out done themselves again!! There’s no way anyone couple go wrong with MAKITA! Used the pole saw about two hours

An outstanding product! Speaks of quality in manufacturing. The components are easy to assemble. All the tools are provided for both assembly as well as adjustments. The machining of the parts are excellent and appear rugged. It is actually quite well balanced for easy handling even when cutting limbs from a tree. There is an overload c/b with auto reset that occasionally trips when cutting branches as the motor needs to be run at full speed for easier cutting. I suspect this will disappear when the newness wears off and parts are broken in. It does not come with chain oil, that you will have to buy separately. The weed whacker or grass trimmer operates as expected and again is easy to handle. Makita also has some accessories for it like a circular saw blade for cutting back vegetation. All manuals are provided, easy to read and understand. Unfortunately I deleted some pictures showing it and the parts as shipped. so I can only show the major components of the tool. The assembly tools are more than suitable.

What a nice set. I have battery powered string trimmers from three other companies and this might be my favorite trimmer except for a couple of issues. It has gobs of power and runs silky smooth. It is as good as my red trimmer and way better than my green trimmers. The problem for me is the on/off button. You have to turn the button on each time you want to start the trimmer if you let your grip off the safety switch. It is a real pain. The other problem is the size of battery you can put in there. I needed four of the 4ah batteries to do my yard, where my red trimmer has a 12ah battery, and you don’t need to change it. Not a huge deal, but kind of a pain if the battery dies at the back of the yard. If you have Makita batteries, I would not hesitate to get this.

The Makita 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless Couple Shaft Power Head Kit w/String Trimmer & 10 in. Pole Saw Attachments 4.0Ah Model # XUX02SM1X4 is a new combo kit from the Makita Brand. The kit has a lot of well engineered features and blends in well with my collection of battery operated yard tools. The power head is capable of connecting an assortment of attachments with a Lever lock quick disconnect. Some other nice features are the Brushless Motor and the Variable speed trigger. The bump and feed String Trimmer Attachment is similar to my gas model but with a much easier method of loading the 0.080 line. The Pole Saw Attachment has a reach of approximately 7 foot. The 10 in. chain saw on the end can easily cut thru a 2 ½ in. branch. For this attachment I wear the Shoulder Strap and always wear safety glasses that Makita provides. This kit comes with a 4.0 ah battery and charger and is supported by a 3-year limited warranty on tool, battery and charger.
